Photography Tips

• Set your digital camera to it's highest resolution and always use the flash. Turn OFF the data imprinter.

• Do not grab shots during a presentation or handover. Set the photograph up afterwards against a plain background. This is an example of a grabbed shot. Neither subject is expecting the photograph to be taken and the result is not flattering.

• Do not have a mirror or window as a background.

• Ensure that you have your subject's full attention and that they are looking directly into the lens.

• Take several shots and submit the best one.

• Avoid back-lit situations.

• Don't photograph people straight on to the camera and hide their hands.

• Don't include people who are not part of the story.

• Write a caption that fully describes the picture.

• In a presentation picture the giver should be on the left of the picture.

• Look for an interesting setting that helps tell a story.

• Try to capture the scale of an event.

• Finally recruit a professional photographer!
